common questions
Everything You
Need To Know
Do I need a licence before attending a competency course?
No. The competency certificate is actually a prerequisite for applying for a licence. You complete the competency course first, receive your certificate, and then submit your licence application to SAPS. We guide you through every step of this process.
What do I need to bring to my first session?
Bring a valid South African ID or passport, comfortable closed-toe shoes, and your booking confirmation. All training equipment, hearing and eye protection are provided. You do not need to own a firearm to complete the course.
How long does the firearm licensing process take in South Africa?
After submitting your complete application to SAPS, processing typically takes between 90 and 180 days. Ensuring your application is complete and correctly submitted from the start significantly reduces delays. We assist with the full application to minimise errors.
Can I purchase a firearm from your shop before I have a licence?
You may select and reserve a firearm while your licence application is pending, but it will only be transferred to you once your licence is approved and collected. We hold layaways and keep you updated throughout the process.
Do you offer gift vouchers for training courses?
Yes. Training gift vouchers are available for all our courses and make a meaningful, practical gift. They can be purchased in-store or via our online shop and are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
